Can a person be a Christian in business? Will religion and business mix? Is God interested in the way we do our work? To say no to these questions is to relegate God to a place of no importance in that area where we spend most of our time. To say no is to make God a Sunday god, and a Sunday god is no god at all.
On the other hand, to answer yes to those questions is to transform your job into a thing of dignity, high purpose, and satisfaction, whether you are a Supreme Court justice or a garbage collector. To say yes is to broaden your concept of what it means to be a Christian. Will religion and business mix? They will if it is the right kind of religion and the right kind of business.
Being a Christian in business makes one a more conscientious worker. The Christian in business will treat fellow workers honestly and fairly. The Christian also views his work as more than a means to earn a living. It is an opportunity to honor God by your performance. A person can glorify God not only by the fervent singing of hymns on Sunday and making a contribution when the collection plate is passed but also by performing his work honestly, faithfully, unselfishly, and enthusiastically.
There is no greater need in American today than the mixing of business and religion. Take Christ into your business and he will transform both you and it.
