Beware of Debt

In a day of easy credit, we must beware of too much debt.  A man and his wife went to a financial advisor for help with their finances.  The man told a friend, “The advisor recommended plastic surgery – that we cut up our credit cards.”  That would solve a lot of financial problems.  By the way, a man told me that his wife’s credit cards were stolen, by a thief.  I asked if he had reported it.  He said, “No, the thief was spending less than she was!

There’s an old saying, “If your outgo exceeds your income, your upkeep will be your downfall.”

To live within your income requires discipline and deferring of pleasure.  It requires that we put off having things when we can’t afford them.  Remember: “The most nerve-wrecking place on earth to live is just beyond your means.”  That’s good sense and good Bible that says, “Owe no man anything except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor fulfills the law” (Romans 13:8).

That’s a debt you already owe.  So, pay up!
