Priorities

When Billy Curry was drafted by the Green Bay Packers it was the fulfillment of a lifetime dream. He had always wanted to play for the famed coach Vince Lombardi. At the first training camp Lombardi said to the players, “Men, around here, our priorities are three and in this order:  God, family, and the Green Bay Packers.”  Then, Curry remembers, “[Lombardi] took us out to the practice field and promptly got those priorities all mixed up.”

It’s easy to get your priorities mixed up when you are busy establishing a practice, raising a family, paying a mortgage, doing church. Life can easily become a rat race.  The trouble with the rat race is even if you win you’re still a rat.

The priorities of a Christian are clear: We’re to love God with all of our being and we are to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.  Are your priorities in order? I remind you that success is just another form of failure if we get our priorities mixed up.
