There are times when, in the face of a temptation or an invitation to do evil, there is no substitute for an absolute, resounding “no.” The word no is one of the smallest yet hardest of all words to say. Youth especially have trouble saying it. We have trouble with it because we all want popularity, success, and happiness. To say no increases the possibility of losing all three.
However, if we are to live for God we must learn to say it. All the great servants of God before us have found this an absolute necessity. The Bible admonishes us, “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not” (Proverbs 1:10).
There are many things that we need to refuse today. Sin must not be coddled, petted, or condoned. It must be refused.
Don't forget that God has promised to help us when we are tempted. In 1 Corinthians 10:13 he says, “There hath no temptation taken you but such is common to man: God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” Let’s claim this promise and refuse all evil.
