Rising above the Average

Who wants to be average? The person who is average is either the sorriest of the best or the best of the sorriest. Too many people are content to be just average. We too readily allow the world to level us down to the same plane. It is a part of the purpose and work of Jesus Christ to help people rise above the average.

Jesus helps people rise above the average in their work. The average person looks upon his work simply as a means of earning a living. He thinks in terms of getting as much money as possible for doing as little as possible. Christ helps us to see our work as a ministry to God. With such a concept we cannot help but be more honest, loyal, diligent, and dependable. This will lift us above the average.

Jesus helps people rise above the average in their morals. The moral standards of our country are deteriorating. Christ gives us a steady foundation to anchor to. He gives us some unchanging principles to tie to. In the midst of the uncertainties of our day, any person who does not drift with the tide will rise above the average in moral conduct.

Jesus helps people to rise above the average in their homes. Divorce, unhappiness, unfaithfulness, and permissiveness characterize most homes today. People with bad attitudes and dispositions are at the heart of every home problem. Christ helps every family member to be better. He enables them to be more loving, forgiving, and understanding. A home with these qualities in it certainly rises above the average.

Is your life just average? Begin to follow Christ and he will help you to rise above.
