Experiences such as failure, difficulties, heartaches, and disappointments can sometimes almost crush a person. The problems may have to do with marriage, business, health, or children.
Christians face these kinds of pressures just like everyone else. We are not members of a Red Carpet Club. All the pressures of life remain or are intensified when we become followers of Christ. We must face life in the raw just as much as anyone else.
It is not the purpose of the Christian life to escape dangers and difficulties, but to demonstrate that we handle them in a different way. It is the purpose of God that we should live victoriously through these experiences and show the world a better way to face life.
One of the things that enables us to stand up to life best is a strong inner person. This comes by feeding upon the word of God. Charles Spurgeon said, “If you find a Bible that’s falling apart, it usually belongs to a person who isn’t.” Feed upon God’s word consistently and it will give you the kind of strength you need to stand up to the pressures of life.
