The Changed Life

A Marxist and a Christian were debating. As they presented their philosophies, a shabbily dressed man passed by. The Marxist said, “Communism can put a new suit on that man.” Then the Christian replied, “Yes, but Christ can put a new man in that suit.”

No one else can make people new like Jesus Christ can. How so?

Jesus gives us a new motivation in life. Without a doubt, the most important thing about any life is its motivating force. The motivating force of the Christian life is the will of God. More than anything else, the Christian wants to please, honor, and obey God. Let man cease to make pleasure and self-gratification his greatest desire, and his life will be changed.

Jesus gives us a new moral standard. We have heard much about “the new morality” in recent years. However, there is really only one new morality—the morality of the Bible. All others are but the old, godless morality in a new disguise. The highest ethical standards humanity has ever known are found in the Bible. It becomes the new life-changing standard for the one who follows Christ.

Jesus gives us new associates. Our close friends invariably come from those who share our lifestyle. Let someone change their lifestyle (their master and their morals) and that person will also have to change many of their friends.

It’s just as well. As someone said, “You can’t run with dogs without getting fleas.” However, God graciously furnishes us with new friends from among his people.

If you are tired of the old life and long for something new, why not turn to Christ, who can make you a new life by giving you a new motivation, a new morality, and new associates?
