There's No Looking Back

When someone suggested that rowing become a part of Clemson University’s athletic program, then athletic director Frank Howard declared, “We aren’t gonna have no sport where you sit down and go backwards.”

In our churches, cities, and individual lives we must spend our time looking ahead, not backwards.

Satchel Page, the great baseball pitcher used to say, “Don’t look back, someone may be gaining on you.” And Jesus warned, “No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, if fit for the kingdom of God” (Luke 9:62).

The secret to success in our spiritual lives is to set our eyes on Jesus and keep moving forward. A good way to start is to get back in church...and do it now. If you don’t, you’ll look back one day and surely regret it.
